Free Missouri CDL Permit Practice Test: General Knowledge 2024

For commercial driving in the great state of Missouri, major routes include Interstate 44, which begins at Wichita Falls, Texas and connects St. Louis to Springfield, where it terminates; and Interstate 70, which begins at Cove Fort, Utah, connects St. Louis to Kansas City, and finally terminates near Baltimore, Maryland. However, heavy truck congestion and frequent construction or work zones along much of I-70’s length can make driving difficult. U.S. Route 63 starts near Ashland, Wisconsin, connects Columbia and Jefferson City to northern Arkansas, and eventually terminates at Ruston, Louisiana. U.S. Route 60 begins at Brenda, Arizona, proceeds through southern Missouri, and afterward terminates at Virginia Beach, Virginia. Missouri Route 13 links Kansas City with Springfield and passes through the Ozark Plateau. However, as you drive through the Ozarks on some of these roads, you are likely to encounter steep grades and narrow, winding roadways, through which you’ll have to proceed with caution, especially in poor weather.

For you, though, commercial driving on these roads is probably still a bit in the future. It’s likely that you’re here because you want to pass the official knowledge test for a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), a vital credential along the way to obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). And because you feel you need a little more help than what you’ve gotten from the official Missouri Commercial Driver License Manual (Missouri CDL Handbook 2024). OK. Let’s do this!

This free Missouri CDL permit practice test, which you’re about to take, is based on the official state manual, just like the official knowledge test. It’s up to date as of December, 2024. And it’s formatted like the official test, too. There are 50 multiple-choice questions on such topics as braking, driving on downgrades, following distance, and vehicle components. Unlike the official knowledge test, each question on this practice test comes with an available hint; use it if you get stuck. Each question also comes with an explanation of the correct answer. Read it carefully if you missed the question so you won’t make the same mistake again next time. What this practice test doesn’t have is a time limit. Take your time, not only to improve your chances of passing the test but also to learn as much as you can from the experience. For example, if you miss a question, you may want to pause and look up the information in the CDL manual before you proceed further with the test.

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
